Neighborhood FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Have questions about our bakes or porch pickup? Below are the questions neighbors ask most often.
Product and storage
How long do the bakes stay fresh?
Freshness varies by bake. Check each item for storage guidance, and freeze extras on pickup day if you want them later.
Do the bakes require refrigeration?
Most breads and cookies do not need the fridge if you will eat them soon. Keep them cool and dry. Soft pastries with dairy fillings should be refrigerated and eaten soon after pickup. Almost everything freezes well once fully cooled.
What flours and ingredients do you bake with?
We bake with regional flours, filtered water, and simple pantry ingredients. Each bake’s product page lists the full ingredient list for that item.
Where can I find ingredients and allergen information?
Every bake on the current menu lists ingredients and major allergens on its product page. We also note shared-kitchen cross-contact limits there. If anything is unclear before you reserve, contact the bakery.
Can you customize a bake or leave something out?
Drop items are baked as listed. We cannot customize standard menu items. For larger workplace or event needs, contact the bakery about a business order. Custom printed packaging or branded lids are not offered.
Are your bakes safe for people with food allergies?
We bake in a home cottage kitchen that uses wheat, dairy, eggs, and other common allergens, and we cannot guarantee products are free from cross-contact. Read the allergen notes on each bake before you reserve. When in doubt, contact us before ordering.
My favorite bake is not on the current menu. Where did it go?
Each drop has its own menu. Some items are seasonal or rotate based on oven capacity and ingredient quality. Check the current bakes to see what is available.
Ordering and pickup
How do reservations work?
You submit a reservation request from the bag by the published cutoff. A request is not an accepted order until the bakery confirms it. After acceptance, you get pickup instructions. Track status with your reference on the orders page.
When should I place a request for the current drop?
Submit before the published cutoff so there is time to mix and bake. Popular items can sell out earlier. If the drop is closed or an item is sold out, that option will not be available on the site.
Why is a bake sold out or the drop closed?
We bake fresh in small batches with limited oven capacity. When an item hits its drop unit cap, it shows as sold out. When the whole drop is closed, new requests are paused until the next menu.
Do you ship or deliver?
No. Spencer Bakery is local porch pickup only in the Plain City area. We do not ship. After a request is accepted, we share the exact pickup address and window.
Do I need to be home for porch pickup?
Pickup is self-serve during the window shared after your request is accepted. You do not need to knock or wait for someone at the door. Follow the porch etiquette guide. If you will miss the window, contact us as early as you can.
Can I change my reservation after I submit it?
While a request is still pending review, contact us or follow the path described on the changes and cancellations page. After acceptance, changes may not be possible once mixing has started.
How do I look up my reservation?
Use order lookup with your reference and the email you used at checkout. The reference appears on your confirmation screen and in the confirmation email once notifications are live. If you lost the reference, contact the bakery.
Business and large orders
Can I place a large or workplace order?
Yes. For offices, teams, and larger gatherings we can quote selected business products with a large-order path. Custom printed packaging or branded lids are not offered. Contact the bakery to start a business request. A dedicated business orders page is coming soon.
Policy and accessibility
What is your refund or replacement policy?
See the changes and cancellations page for the current rules. Some terms are still awaiting bakery approval and are marked as draft there. For product concerns after pickup, contact us and we will work through it promptly.
Who can I contact about accessibility issues on this site?
We want the storefront to be usable by everyone. If you hit a barrier, contact the bakery and tell us what you were trying to do. We will help you complete the request another way when we can.
Still need a hand?
Look up a reservation, read the porch guide, or leave Allyson a note. She replies when her hands are free from the oven.
